Makarska riviera
As one of the most stunning stretches of coastline along the Adriatic Sea, the Makarska Riviera is characterized by long white pebble beaches, and lush pine and olive woods that lie between the azure blue sea and the dramatic Mount Biokovo mountain range. Long hours of uninterrupted sunshine, warm crystal clear water and a gently sloping shoreline make it a suitable destination for family holidays. It lies conveniently between the great cultural cities of Dubrovnik and Split and close to Medugorje and Mostar while the shore is protected by the islands of Brac and Hvar.
Biokovo, a mountain along the Makarska Riviera, is the highest coastal mountain on the Adriatic (St. George, 1762 m), descends toward the sea in very steep and bare limestone rocks, under which is a narrow and green littoral belt. From it's cliffs the central Dalmatian islands and entire Dalmatian coast, as well as the hinterland with many villages, are in plan view.
Beauties of the landscape under Biokovo and tameness of its littoral attract many foreign visitors, facilitating thus a more rapid development of tourism, and many resorts, one of them is undoubtedly Baska Voda.
